I am Muslim. I am white. I am male. I am married. I am American. I live in Cambridge, MA. I have a serious side and a goofy side. I have played cello, piano, drums, guitar, and the bass. I really liked the Lord of the Rings movies. I went on Hajj (the pilgrimage to Makkah) in 2005. I have been affiliated with the following educational institutions, in rough chronological order: Joseph Sears School, Keewaydin Camps (Lake Dunmore), New Trier High School, Phillips Academy (Andover), Brown University, American Learning Insitute for Muslims (A.L.I.M.), University of Chicago, Princeton University, Institute of Islamic Education (Darul Uloom Elgin), Qasid Institute, St. Francis College (Brooklyn, NY), Dartmouth College. My father works for William Blair and Company, a Chicago-based global investment bank. My mother has an MBA from the University of Chicago. I used to have a blog called “complexity seeks unity.” My oldest friend in this world makes short movies with some of his friends under the name daemonswine. What else would you like to know?
Some what heartening to see a Muslim take pride in formal American education and intellectualism. What year did your mother graduate from UChicago? My mother also went there.
The early 70s.
Muneer Fareed makes me happy. Every time I see him I ask him if he wants water… an ode to good times. BTW what do you teach? *nosy* if you don’t mind me asking…
